1.

After Mother Nature decided to dump a bunch of snow on Patrick’s primary route, a modification was required.  A little time was lost, but Patrick made up some miles during the week and is in now back on schedule.

2.

Monday – tough uphill run for about 30 miles.  Way to hang Patrick.

3.

Tuesday Eva Pastalkova, a neurologist and ultramarathoner from Virginia was at a conference in San Diego.  She then rented a car and drove 8 hours east into theMazatzal Mountains to run a 30 miler with Patrick.  They both had a good run and Patrick definitely enjoyed the company in this very desolate but beautiful part of the state of New Mexico.  Thanks for your support Eva.  And for those reading this, you don’t have to be an ultramarathoner to run with Patrick.  If you ever want to join him for even a 1 mile run or walk, just contact us to coordinate.  He loves the company on the road.

4.

Also on Tuesday Amy Phillips from Family Life radio in AlbuquerqueNMinterviewed Patrick.  You can listen to the interview on his “News” page of thewebsite.  There’s also a new article from the Observation Post from 29 Palms, CA listed on this same page.

5.

Wednesday brought a long straight road and scenery that didn’t change all day – basically a boring day.  So Patrick got a little creative on the first part of his blog; poor Aunt Margie almost had a heart attack as she read it. Only to find out at the end that Patrick redefined “creative writing.”

6.

Thursday was just a cold and rainy day out there; a good day to have Grandpa and his warm RV.

7.

A very touching story was brought to our attention about Maggie from Iowa, a 12-year-old girl suffering from JRA.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Maggie and her family.  Patrick dedicated his run to Maggie on Friday on his blog.

8.

Friday Patrick was interviewed by Matt Robinson of the Deming Headlight newspaper, from DemingNM.  Article will be coming out soon and can be viewed on Patrick’s website under the “Guest Book/Blog/News/Bio” page.

9.

Saturday brought the end (for now) of running along I-10.  Yes, there are parts of the country where the only connecting road between towns is the interstate.  The state troopers pulled over a few times just to make sure he was OK, and said people run/walk all the time on the side of the interstate in NM (try that in Northern Virginia).  Patrick also met Russ and Laura, 2 people riding their bicycles around the country.  There are other people out there doing crazy things.  Check out their website.

10.

Sunday was a nice 30 mile run through Las CrucesNM and climbed back into the mountains to the northeast.

11.

Grandpa Bob continues to give Patrick wonderful support in his RV and we are so thankful to have him in this critical area (desert, mountains, snow, etc.). He’ll be with Patrick up until TX, on about the 10th of Feb.  If you know anyone living close to Patrick’s route after that point and would like to host him, please have them contact Patrick.

12.

Please feel free to pass the website to your friends and families: http://way.to/patricksrun4arthritis.  Patrick has raised over $11K with a goal of $50K (22% there)!  Fundraising efforts will continue through April.

13.

All Weekly Summaries are now posted on the “Guest Book/Blog/News/Bio” page of Patrick’s website.  We also added a “People” page with pictures of folks Patrick is meeting along the way.
