Run Information
What Kind of Running We Do
The Loudoun Road Runners Club (Loudoun County, Virginia, USA) is a non-profit organization, sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). We are a community of runners and walkers of all levels and ability. You are welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of age, gender, athletic inclination, and goals.
While we are a club organized for an althletic pursuit (running), being or wanting to be an "athlete" is not a prerequisite for membership. We find that sociability and camaraderie seem to make the miles go by faster no matter what the conditions, so most of our running is at a conversational pace. We're a diverse group, so there's always lots to talk about.
Where We Run
Over the years we've developed a small library of routes around Loudoun County and beyond that provide everything from flat miles along the W&OD to forays into the woods for rugged trail runs along the Appalachian Trail. Many of our routes include some rolling hills, and most include at least some of Loudoun County's beautiful scenery.
Run Sponsor Duties
Every weekend run has a sponsor, a member who is willing to volunteer to make sure that water is placed at predetermined locations along the route for the day. (Sponsoring a run is optional, and running with the club does not obligate you to getting up any earlier!) The sponsor also makes sure than any newcomers are welcomed and have company for the route. Ths sponsor also picks up any litter left behind at the water stop so that we leave the location as good (or better) than we found it.
