3/13 Hamilton

A lot of facinating stuff happened on March 13th. Of course with Google you see that stuff has happened nearly every day throughout history... Who knew? This image for example is an actual picture of March 13th. Seriously. I found it on Google. I also found that on March 13th in 1911 L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, was born. He of course gave us Tom Cruise.  And on this day in 1959, Kathy Hilton was born and she gave us Paris Hilton. What a day huh!!!  But wait, there's more. In 1781 William Herschel discovered Uranus. ... don't you love reading that?. And the weekend's long run is........

With the warm weather this past week the W&OD trail should be clear and dry, so if you want to add some flat miles to the Hamilton loop then Saturday is your chance. Starting at Loudoun County High School will add 7 miles to the beginning and another 7 to the end of the scheduled run. Of course the return trip from Hamilton is always optional if you can find a ride back so either 21 miles or 14 miles are possible. See the map.

Where/When:

  • Saturday: Meet at the Loudoun County High School at 6:30 a.m.

Directions to the Run:

  • Saturday:  Loudoun County High School is at the corner of Catoctin Circle and Dry Mill Rd. in Leesburg.

Long Sunday Run

The plans for Sunday have firmed up a bit.  Heidi and I are meeting at the high school at 7:00 for about a 6-mile run, then back to the high school to meet up with the 8:00 crew.  From there, we're planning to do the (slow) 11-mile option, for a total of about 17 miles.  Hopefully it won't rain.

Anyone else game?

Re: Long Sunday Run

Teri, I'll plan to join you and Heidi at 7.

Just a little more

for me.  21 miles according to Tom's calculations.  So, as of 5:52 pm, I plan to start from LCHS around 6:40 or so and make the round trip.

Sunday?

Given the forecast, I'm going to gamble that Sunday will involve less torrential rain and wind than Sat. I guess I'll probably do something involving Thomas Mill but am open to suggestions if anyone else is planning for Sun.

Maybe Sunday

Heidi is having trouble posting so sent out an email.  Here is her message  Just in case Saturday's weather is really bad, Teri and I are starting from the HS at 7 am for a long run...not sure of the entire plan, but doing something!

Saturday run

I plan on starting at Clark's Gap at 7:20, running to the club run and then back for a total of around 14. Let me know if anyone wants to join me.

coming from the west

I, too, plan to meet for the club run, but I'm going to start from the trail's end in Purcellville and take it up to Hamilton Station road, then into Hamilton from there.  Total loop will be about 15-17 mi depending in the route home.
