2/20 Lincoln

Lincoln would normally offer the chance for the famous Norm Loop. However, road conditions being what they are I can't recommend attempting it. That's not to say you can't decide for yourself. Just be conscious of the lack of a shoulder to escape to when you need to avoid that oncoming SUV. And while I haven't seen the roads around Lincoln since the storms, i would think Yaktraks may be advisable. If you have a suggestion for extra miles somewhere then let us know.

I'd like to start out on Sun on Old Waterford Road - won't be up for an entire Ellington Loop though, What time will you be starting? I can keep you company for the first part of your long run!

Submitted by Allison on Sat, 2010-02-20 15:47.Casey, my plan is to do the Ellington Loop in reverse so I can do 2 X Thomas Mill early in the run. My best estimate is that I probably won't get to the Hurley Ln/Old Waterford section til ~9:00 or after.
But I'd love some company - I'll start from LCHS at 7:00 in case anyone wants to come. Tom, still considering it?
When I drove it today, the only hairy stretch was on Canby Rd. There was still snow on the road and a short stretch of single lane, with high snow drifts on one side. Otherwise, the dirt roads just looked muddy in spots and Clarks Gap wasn't bad.

Submitted by Casey on Sat, 2010-02-20 20:23.Allison, I will come up Old Waterford Road towards Hurley - leaving Rust at about 8:30 - that way I will meet up with you coming down Hurley or Old Waterford Road depending on your timing. Please don't worry if your plans change and you miss me - just do what's best for you on the run. Casey

I'll be there at 7:00
Early Saturday
Submitted by Matt on Thu, 2010-02-18 21:31.Dave, I'll meet you at 6:45 for an early loop. I have water duty so I may be a little late depending on how bad the roads are but I will get there as close to 6:45 as possible.
0645 Saturday for an early 7 mile loop?
Submitted by Dave Haber on Thu, 2010-02-18 16:58.That is a nice picture, except that the runner dude does not have his Yak Trax on (and he dresses for winter runs like Darrell). Yak Trax should be sponsoring our weekend runs.
I plan to start at 0645 for the Lincoln 7.28 mile loop and then do the 12 mile loop with the club.
Post if you want to join me.

Submitted by Tom on Thu, 2010-02-18 08:09.Allison, I'd be very careful on Clarke’s Gap Rd. if you do the Ellington Loop. I may join you but I'll wait to see how my ankle feels after Saturday to decide.

Assuming road conditions are friendly (and I'll make the drive on Saturday to make sure), I'm planning to run a reverse Ellington loop on Sunday. Possibly with an extra repeat or two of Thomas Mill in an effort to simulate the terrain of my spring marathon.
Anyone want to join me?
