Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both .... Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--- I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference.

I relate this fragment of a famous poem from Walt Whitman for one reason.... It makes me look intelligent and sensitive. In fact when I take the road less travelled it's usually because I'm following someone with a GPS watch who insists on even mileage.

A lot of facinating stuff happened on March 13th. Of course with Google you see that stuff has happened nearly every day throughout history... Who knew? This image for example is an actual picture of March 13th. Seriously. I found it on Google. I also found that on March 13th in 1911 L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, was born. He of course gave us Tom Cruise.  And on this day in 1959, Kathy Hilton was born and she gave us Paris Hilton. What a day huh!!!  But wait, there's more. In 1781 William Herschel discovered Uranus. ... don't you love reading that?. And the weekend's long run is........

I know this is a perfect picture for relating some philosophical whimsy but I'm just not feeling the inspiration. No doubt Phil could tie in Aristotle and silly putty with the weekend run but you're stuck with me. So....

The store won't look quite like this on Saturday. I'm anxious for the day when it once again will. Then we can begin complaining about the heat.

I was tempted to declare the Long Run List  cancelled this week due to inclement conditions, after all even the George Washington Birthday Marathon has been cancelled, but maybe by Sunday we'll have packed snow to run on instead of gargantuan drifts. I'm heading out to buy Yaktraks today just in case. Otherwise we'll all meet at Casey's house to take turns on her treadmill. I should probably check with her first..... nah.

The good part about doing the Long Run List is that I get to post wacky pictures each week. The bad part is that I have to write something each week. Fortunately for me I feel no compulsion to make the two match in any way. So if you find yourself puzzled over the hidden message that corresponds to the image, don't be. There is no message.... or is there?

Jan. 24 called worst day of the year

British psychologist calculates ‘most depressing day’

Have you been feeling the weight of endless freezing days? Depressed at the fate of the Salahis? Maybe you're battling a profound case of Seasonal Affective Disorder? Well things are getting ready to take a turn for the better.

Yep, after Sunday everything will start to improve. That's because Sunday the 24th is the 'worst day of the year'.  Dr Cliff Arnall of the University of Cardiff, Wales, who specializes in seasonal disorders has created a model and determined that the 24th is the 'most depressing day of the year'! I'll let the professor explain:

While days technically get longer after Dec. 21, cyclonic weather systems take hold in January. Meanwhile, the majority of people break their healthy resolutions six to seven days into the new year, and even the hangers-on have fallen off the wagon, torn off the nicotine patches and eaten the fridge empty by the third week. Any residual dregs of holiday cheer and family fun have kicked the bucket by Jan. 24.

Are you struggling with your choice of Saturday activity between shopping or running. Well consider that this Saturday's weather is predicted to be in the 50's and the way our winter has been going it may be the last time we see such temperatures for a while.
